SearchFest 2012 Recap
Posted by: John M
SEMpdx held their annual conference, SearchFest, last week and it was chock full of tips & tricks for improving SEO, PPC, Analytics, Social Media and more. I’ve been to the previous SearchFest events, and I feel like this one was by far the best in terms of content. There was so much great information being shared, which is why I wanted to provide a link to the different SearchFest recaps for those who missed the event.
One of my favorite sessions was the Local/Mobile Strategies & Tactics session with Chris Silver Smith and Greg Sterling. Chris’ portion was very tactical, while Greg’s section dealt more with what’s happening in the world of local and mobile.
The Conversion Optimization Tips session was really good too. My favorite was Jordan LeBaron from REI, as he walked through some real life examples of what REI is doing, which is always interesting to me.
I must say, however, the very first session of the day with Rand Fishkin and Justin Briggs was the most interesting (and fun) session I’ve attended. These two flew through their slide decks and named over 50 tools for SEO, link development, web dev tools (i.e. site speed) and much more. I didn’t see a recap of this session on the SEMpdx blog, so here are both of their presentations.
Rand Fishkin: Tools for Inbound Marketing
Justin Briggs: Actionable Tools for Inbound Marketing

I also encourage you to go to check out the SearchFest hashtag (#SearchFest) on Twitter. The event was trending on Twitter at certain points throughout the day, which says a lot for the great tips, and the Twitter nation here in Portland. Nice work everyone.
