Notes From The Intern: My Final Days In The SEM Industry

After spending the last week and a half in the search engine marketing (SEM) industry I have learned many new things that I will continue to use throughout my life and future career.  Whether I end up with a job in the SEM industry or not, I will be able to take what I learned and apply it in any field that I end up in.  I have had many different opportunities to learn new things about not only the SEM industry, but also about what it is like to work for a digital marketing agency.  In an agency, there is a wide variety of clients and you are constantly able to work on something new.  This is an idea that I really like, and I will most likely try to work in some sort of agency someday.

During my time with Formic Media, I have primarily focused on managing a few of the different social media pages that Formic has.  I have been scouring the web for new stories about the SEM Industry and writing my own content to post to the Formic blog.  While managing these pages I have had the opportunity to learn many new things.  I was never one to really browse the web for news.  I would typically read just the headlines and whatever was the “big news.”  However, during my time with Formic I have had the opportunity to do a lot more research about the SEM industry and read many news articles that I would not have normally seen.

I would like to thank the entire staff at Formic Media for giving me this opportunity and opening their office to me.  It has been a pleasure to come in everyday and be able to have such a great opportunity to learn so many new things.  Most people my age, 17, are spending their time trying to find something entertaining to do during their summer break.  Thankfully, I have not had to do this because for the past week and a half I have had the great fortune to come to Formic Media.  I am going to miss coming here next week, and am going to have to adjust, just like when I started coming here, to not coming in to Formic every morning.  Once again, thank you Formic Media for providing me with such a great opportunity giving me a truly exhilarating experience.
