Kent Lewis, PresidentAs President of Formic Media, Kent Lewis is responsible for overseeing operations, marketing and strategic partnerships in order to achieve Formic’s mission: to provide affordable but effective search engine marketing (SEM) services to small and local businesses. Also currently President of Anvil Media, Inc., Lewis started his career in SEM in 1996, and has built and managed SEM teams at 3 separate agencies since then. He was also co-founder of emailROI (now eROI) in 2002 and past President and co-founder of SEMpdx, a professional trade association for search engine marketers. Lewis is an adjunct professor at Portland State University, where he teaches eMarketing and SEM workshops. In 2000, Lewis created pdxMindShare, a networking career community for Portland professionals. He is a member of EO, a global organization for entrepreneurs, and is the recipient of Portland Business Journal's Top 40 Under 40 Award. John McPhee, Director of Client ServicesMcPhee, originally from the Midwest, decided to venture West in 2003 to kick start his career in Internet Marketing. Upon arriving, McPhee was employed by BetterManagement.com (BMC), a SAS-owned company, to take on the role of Internet Marketing Specialist where he handled all aspects of BMC's SEO and PPC strategies. After a two year stint at BMC, McPhee moved into the agency world at Anvil Media in 2005. Here McPhee provided SEO, PPC and social media strategy working on a number of travel/tourism (Provenance Hotel Group, Travel Portland, Jackson Hole Central Reservations, Travel Oregon), B2B-focused (Axway, ColumbiaSoft) and B2C clients (gDiapers), earning multiple social media marketing (SoMe) awards for strategy and performance in 2008 and 2009. McPhee has also presented at various SEMpdx and PSU events, and volunteered to work with the PSU multimedia class on a project for Portland Center Stage, as well as donated his time to the SMART reading program for the past four years. Looking for the next step in his career, McPhee joined Formic Media (Anvil's sister company) as Director of Client Services in 2010. McPhee is excited for the opportunity to work in a start-up environment with a talented team, and help move the needle for small business owners looking to increase their online visibility and sales. Anna Hutson, Account ExecutiveAnna Hutson has been with Formic Media since the company's launch, managing and executing search engine optimization (SEO), pay-per-click (PPC) and social media marketing campaigns for a variety of clients, including Microsoft, Gerding Edlen Management, Pastini Pastaria, Red Lion on the River, Heathman Lodge, Jama Software, Rasmussen BMW & MINI and Toyota & Kia of Puyallup. Leveraging her attention to detail and desire to provide top-notch customer service, Anna develops overall search engine marketing strategies and manages tactical implementation and measurement. She regularly contributes to Formic's blog and monthly Seminar Series and supports the company's overall marketing efforts, including attending local SEMpdx and PdxMindShare industry events. Hutson's background includes developing, executing, and measuring integrated marketing campaigns using traditional media avenues for clients at Datamark, Inc., a direct response, lead acquisition management agency in Spokane, WA. Hutson has a strong writing and communications background, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations from Gonzaga University and is a proud "Zag for life". Also a Seattle native, Anna brings a Pacific Northwest love for the outdoors and can always be found cheering on the Zags basketball team, playing with her dog or downhill skiing. Alex Peerenboom, Account ExecutiveAs an Account Executive, Alex Peerenboom is charged with executing the search engine marketing strategies including search engine optimization (SEO), pay-per-click campaigns (PPC), and social media marketing for many of Formic's small business clients. Alex joined the Formic Media team after spending 6 years in Eugene, OR where he attended the University of Oregon (Business Administration '08) and began his search engine marketing career at two different agencies working with both large national clients and small businesses. In fact, coming to Portland was a return home for Alex, having grown up just outside the city. Now that he is back, Alex has enjoyed everything Portland has to offer professionally and personally. When he's not attending local industry events, Alex is a passionate local sports fan and beginner "foodie". John Hutchison, Web DesignerJohn Hutchison graduated from the Art Institute of Portland in 2009 with a Bachelors degree in Interactive Media. Prior to graduating, he gained interactive design experience with Entercom Radio's Digital Production Department, where he was responsible for both website and graphic design production for both local and national clients. Hutchison joined Formic Media in 2009, developing search engine-friendly Website Design and providing SEM services to clients. His unique mix of design and marketing skills exemplify Formic's valuable offerings. Since joining Formic Media, Hutchison has developed numerous SEO-friendly websites for local and regional businesses, helping them expand their reach and revenue. |
