Community
Formic Media has a deep commitment to the Portland community. As he has with every business he’s been involved with, President Kent Lewis incorporated a level of corporate responsibility into Formic Media’s culture. This includes providing pro bono SEM services to local charity organizations and encouraging employee participation in local non-profits and active involvement in business and professional trade associations like SEMpdx and pdxMindShare. As Formic Media’s team and resources grow, we will continue to add content to this section. Formic’s current pro-bono client project is the Oregon Humane Society. For 142 years OHS has been sheltering abandoned animals, fighting cruelty and neglect, and working to build a caring, compassionate community here in Oregon. OHS’s experienced adoption counselors gladly help each individual or family to find an animal that’s likely to be a good fit for their lifestyle and living arrangements. OHS is not affiliated with any other local or national organization and receives no tax dollars; their work is made possible only by the generosity of their volunteers. Formic’s 2009 pro-bono client project is ¡Salud! Wine Auction. Now in its 19th year, ¡Salud!, Oregon’s Pinot Noir Auction, has raised over $6 million to support efforts to bring healthcare to seasonal vineyard workers and their families. Each November, winemakers and wine aficionados alike come together for a long weekend of wine, food and fun, and to raise money to ensure the health of the workforce on which Oregon’s wine industry so heavily depends.
